Susan H. Kamei is an author and one of the country's foremost scholars on the Japanese American incarceration. The granddaughter of Japanese immigrants whose families were incarcerated during World War II, she brings both personal and scholarly depth to her work. She has been featured on major news broadcasts such as NPR, NBC, C-SPAN, the PBS NewsHour, BBC, and France 24. Her articles have been syndicated in publications across the country. She has been an adjunct professor (teaching) of history at the University of Southern California and currently teaches in the community, including for adult continuing education programs at UC Berkeley and Santa Clara University. She continues her research with the USC Shinso Ito Center for Japanese Religions and Culture and contributes to projects with the Japanese American Citizens League, the Japanese American National Museum, and the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation. She holds a B.A. summa cum laude from UC Irvine and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
